About Greg

Greg Jones understands that technology is merely a tool in the delivery of health care and that at all times a health system’s technology must further the mission of delivering efficient and effective care to patients. Greg brings a strong background of executive health care leadership with a track record of developing and aligning technology direction to the overall business strategy. As a seasoned business leader, Greg can help organizations understand technology options and impacts and can provide input to business strategies. Greg’s more than 30 years of experience and engineering education enable him to understand complex technologies and leverage technology for business enhancement with the ability to explain the benefits and value to all levels of the organization. Greg can bring expertise in evaluating IT organizational structures, teams, capabilities and direction and has a passion and successful track record mentoring and developing IT leaders. Greg has been a board member for health care entities and provided leadership to health system boards assessing whether to adopt new solutions and platforms. Greg has experience and can guide boards/health systems in analysis of EHR conversions, including vendor and/or hosting migrations, identifying and explaining issues, opportunities and the cost and benefit of making a change. Greg also has experience in transitioning IT organizations to a service provider model.

Greg served as a CIO and CTO for a multibillion-dollar health care organization with responsibilities for all areas of IT during his tenure. He managed the technology architecture supporting 150,000 employees, providing leadership to a 1,500-person technology team. Greg managed organizational transformation through an enterprise outsourcing and then subsequently through a blended strategy of outsourcing to best in class vendors. Greg determined and implemented sourcing and hosting (including cloud) strategies, maintaining a flat technology budget through a period of three-fold organizational growth. Greg created a highly reliable service delivery organization with high customer satisfaction (4.8/5.0). Greg grew the information security organization into a stand-alone service provider with a dedicated CISO, improving the security posture of the organization.
